VirusTotal is a service developed by Hispasec Sistemas that analyzes suspicious files and URLs enabling the identification of viruses, worms, trojans and other kinds of malicious content detected by antivirus engines and web analysis toolbars.
VirusTotal's main characteristics are:

How can VirusTotal help students?
- VirusTotal can scan a file for viruses or malware contamination, this could help avoid passing of documents with virus that can destroy the hard drive of one's computer and delete all of its files. This is useful when passing documents to each other especially doing group works.
